Kaitlin Vitt Editor
Kaitlin is one of the newest members to join the Winnipeg office. She graduated from the University of Manitoba with a Bachelor of Science in 2015, then went on to attend Red River College to study journalism. Her work has appeared in the Winnipeg Free Press, CBC Manitoba, Metro Winnipeg, and weekly newspapers in Manitoba’s Interlake and surrounding areas.
Kaitlin moved to Ukraine in 2017, where she studied Ukrainian dance, language, and culture. Here, she had her introduction to the magazine publishing world, writing a monthly column about a Canadian’s take on the Ukrainian lifestyle.
Upon moving back to Canada, she has stayed in the magazine industry, editing and writing for magazines including Canada’s History and Ciao before joining the team at Matrix.
“I like the challenge of exploring difficult questions about the world around us and telling stories that connect people to issues that matter,” says Kaitlin, when asked why she pursued both science and journalism. She has also published Planted: Stories from Manitoba’s Natural World, a book that made it to number one on McNally Robinson’s bestsellers list.
“I have many interests – that’s the main reason I went into journalism – so I’m excited about the range of topics covered in the magazines that Matrix publishes. I look forward to working with the various associations to share with the readers the latest from industry leaders.”
